We’re very excited to be participating in the 2nd Annual Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl! There are lots of other great shops that are participating this year, so we’d like to take a minute to tell you a little more about the shops participating north of us!
Cowgirl Yarn in Laramie, WY is a one of a kind boutique in downtown Laramie, Wyoming, with everything for the modern knitter: luxurious yarns, exotic needles, fashion-forward patterns, unusual accessories, and oodles of inspiration. The store was formerly known as In Sheep’s Clothing. We have changed the name to better reflect our region, Wyoming and the Front Range, where we serve and support local fiber artists and enthusiasts. During the yarn crawl, they will be having a truck show featuring “Out on a Bead,” which are dicroic buttons. On August 26 from 12:00 – 6:00pm, they will have baby lambs (!!!!!!) from the Wind Dance Ranch on their back patio, and make sure to visit the downtown Laramie Farmer’s Market on August 19 and 26.
Ewe Count in Cheyenne, WY has been run by Penny since 1994. They carry yarns for knitting and crocheting, as well as supplies for cross-stitching. They carry lots of different sock yarns, as well as quality yarns in wool, alpaca, mohair, cotton, bamboo and soysilk. She carries books for counted cross stitch, as well as hardanger, embroidery and counted thread designs. She offers classes in cross stitching and knitting, and a few fabrics as well. Be sure to visit her shop on August 27 at 1:00pm when she will have a Donna Druchunas question and answer session on Arctic lace, musk ox, and Alaska, followed by a book signing at 2pm.
Prairie Wind Fiber Arts and Beads in Cheyenne, WY carries an awesome range of alpaca yarns, as well as beads and beading supplies. They carry alpaca, bamboo, and cotton chenille yarns, as well as bamboo needles and knitting accessories. Their beads come from Africa, and you can find focal beads from India, Turkey and Tibet, as well as Swarovski crystals and coral and shell beads. Be sure to stop by Prairie Wind on August 20 between 10:00am and 1:00pm when she’ll have alpacas at the shop and a felting demonstration; or on August 27 between 9:00am and 11:00am when she will demonstrate spinning feather yarn.
