We here at MSK are always on the look out for good Summer knits. Projects that are light and airy, and can be stuffed in a tote bag for an impromptu road trip or day in the park. These projects can be hats, baby blankets, shawls, t-shirts … anything that doesn’t hang heavy on your lap or needles.
Thanks, once again, to Jared Flood and Brooklyn Tweed we have the perfect solution! Presenting Girasole:
Girasole is an early pattern from Brooklyn Tweed and a perfect vacation knit. Amy Machael knit this in the round, using only three skeins of Madeline Tosh’s Tosh Merino Light. (Here is a link to her Ravelry project page.) It uses an easy lace repeat all the way around, and she knit it up in an astonishing 18 days!
This project creates a perfect lap blanket or shawl, and is impressive to everyone. Elizabeth Zimmermann was a fan of knitting circular shawls in the summertime because they are easy to transport and turn into a little bag when tucked up — so your yarn stays clean! Pattern and yarn are both available at My Sister Knits, so pick up some today!
